MECHANICAL ENGINEERING PROBLEMS:
1. The milling work of a cast steel material using a 1 1/2 inches diameter cutter choose between the two available stock. Find the speed of the cutter with a cutting speed of 50 ft per minute, using carbide tipped cutter with a cutting speed of 200 ft per minute.

Solution:

For slow speed cutter;
V = 3.14 DN

N = (50 ft per min)(12 inches per ft)
         3.14 (1.5 inches)

     = 127 rpm

For high speed cutter;
N = (200 ft per minute)
        3.14 (1.5 inches)

    = 509 rpm       answer
