Parallel Shafts

MECHANICAL ENGINEERING PROBLEMS:
1. Two parallel shafts connected by pure rolling turn in the same direction having a speed ratio of 2.75. What is the distance of the shafts if the smaller cylinder is 22 cm. in diameter.

a. D1N1 = D2N2
    22(2.75) = D2(1)
    D2 = 60.5 cm

b. For the same direction:
    C = D2-D1
               2
        = 60.5 - 22
                 2
        = 19.25 cm      answer
